Painted Lady (San Francisco Style Modular Building, 21w)

E This modular (built in July 2013) is meant as one of the famous Painted Ladies in San Francisco, the idea being borrowed from Henrik Hoexbroe who has built a whole row of them. In a larger scale you can find them in Legoland California, too. The future town will probably have some Frisco stuff in it, at least there’s already a very fine Cable Car built by Altezza which will be shown here too, of course.

There is no interior, but, since cars are still important, a working garage door. The garage even fits the full-size cars. Due to the SNOT road and pavement system there is no usual baseplate, so a width of 21 studs is no problem. Building in an odd width widens the range of possibilities, e.g. you can have cheese on both edges as you can see in the frieze at the gable.

Some details:

• The pillars at the bottom of the staircase are shortened versions of the ones used at the Gas Station.
• The curtains at the windows of the second floor are made out of bridal veils.
• The garage door (probably) has a new mechanism which allows any width (see below).

E This Shell Art Deco Gas Station, built in March 2013, is a part of a larger project named “ER0L’s Garage” and as such will be seen in the town project.

Boise Bro: “Full House” Victorian/Wohnhaus im San-Francisco-Stil

E Another amazing house builder is Boise Bro, completely unknown to us till to date. This victorian building  (one of the typical “Painted Ladies” of San Francisco) is inspired by a TV show named “Full House”. Now this is really top-notch building: nice techniques, a lot of great detailing, but not over the top, all in all well balanced and very stylish at the same time. There’s a fantastic interior, too. This is a building style we really love, also because of the sheer size which meets quite well the scale we’re aiming at, too. We’ll surely keep track of this builder.

D Boise Bro war uns bis dato völlig unbekannt. Dabei gehört dies sicherlich zum Besten, was es derzeit im Bereich Häuserbau gibt. Bei diesem “viktorianischen” Wohnhaus im San-Francisco-Stil ist praktisch alles erfüllt, was uns besonders freut:

E Jebbo Bouhuijs is a very talented allround-builder from the Netherlands. He is actually building a diorama of a rural area in the style of Kamerik, a village in the Netherlands. This highly detailed diorama is filled with sweet vehicles and other great stuff. Take a look at those swans and the great tile work! We highly recommend to visit his MOCpages account and review his awesome  MOCs.

D Jebbo Bouhuijs ist ein sehr talentierter Allrounder aus den Niederlanden. Er arbeitet an einem Diorama der ländlichen Gegend rund um Kamerik, ein Dorf in den Niederlanden. Dieses sehr detaillierte Diorama enthält viele tolle Fahrzeuge und einige andere Features. Sicher eine Besonderheit ist die Art und Weise, wie hier Fliesen eingesetzt werden, auch die Schwäne sind eine Klasse für sich. Wir empfehlen einen Besuch auf den MOCpages von Jebbo, um seine tollen Kreationen in Augenschein zu nehmen.

Andrew Tate: Riverbank Cottage

E Andrew Tate aka snaillad is surely one of our favourite LEGO architects. His buildings go far beyond the usual CC style, he’s a specialist in terms of Art Deco, and he’s a great car builder, too, a combination which is rather rare. Here you can see his lovely Riverbank Cottage, together with a nice scenery. Very british! The interior is worth a look, too (see below).

E My Sig Fig just found out where he wants to live. This lovely and extremely detailed victorian house, based on the “Pink Palace” from the animation film “Coraline”, was designed and built by Rita Stallings – not in pink, as can be seen, but it looks as well in tan. This talented builder is specialized in wonderful houses. Each one of her MOCs is a work of art and we’ll absolutely keep track of her MOCs!

D Meine Sig Fig hat gerade herausgefunden, wo sie leben möchte: in diesem schönen und sehr detaillierten Haus auf der Basis des “Pink Palace” aus dem Animationsfilm “Coraline”. Es wurde von Rita Stallings entwickelt und gebaut – zwar nicht in Pink, aber auch Tan erscheint sehr passend. Rita Stallings hat sich auf wunderschöne Häuser spezialisiert. Jedes ihrer MOCs ist ein Kunstwerk, auch ihre anderen Gebäude wird man sicher hier bestaunen können.

Model Show in Goes (The Netherlands)/Lego-Event in den Niederlanden

E On 22 and 23 February 2014 there was a large model show held in Goes, the Netherlands. In addition to railroads, ships and all kinds of vehicles there was also an area with a large Lego exhibition, where many nice MOCs were shown. Also present was the world famous (in the Netherlands) Incident City – the city were everything goes wrong.This was provided by De Bouwsteen (the largest association of Lego fans worldwide). 

D Am 22. und 23. Februar fand im niederländischen Goes (Zeeland) eine Modellbauausstellung statt. Ein Teil dieser Ausstellung war für De Bouwsteen reserviert, mit ca. 800 Mitgliedern die größte LUG weltweit. Zu sehen gab es vor allem MOCs aus dem Town-Bereich, darunter die in den Niederlanden sehr bekannte “Incidenten City” – eine Lego-Stadt, in der die Feuerwehr immer sehr viel zu tun hat (siehe unten).

Brent Waller: Ghostbusters HQ LDD Free Download

E The Ghostbusters Headquarter as a part of Brent Waller’s Cuusoo submission was, as we all know, rejected by TLG – other than the Ecto-1. But no problem: Brent provides the LDD file of the building for a free download, which is very kind of him.

D Das Ghostbusters-Hauptquartier ist, anders als Brent Wallers Ecto-1, kein Bestandteil des Cuusoo-Sets, das im Juni erscheint. Aber kein Problem: Netterweise bietet Brent die LDD-Datei für die ehemalige Feuerwache, die das GB-Quartett sich als Hauptquartier auserkoren hat, zum kostenlosen Download an.
